I’ve hiked Haleakala Crater multiple times. One of the most incredible places I’ve ever experienced. My first hike, I decided to camp at Holua Cabin. After an aggressive hike down the cliffside, I camped for the night, waking up to a sunrise above the clouds. Since then, every trip back to Maui pretty much guarantees a hike in the crater. Whether on Halemaumau Trail to Holua, Kapalaoa, or Paliku Cabins, or a hike from the summit down Sliding Sands trail, every hike is different. Sometimes, mist winds its way up the Ko’olau gap to the summit. Other times, it may be clear skies. Either way, the colors are always different. The experience always unique. Just like these images.
