One of my favorite drives when I’m back in Colorado is up Squaw Pass outside of Denver, on the way up to Echo Lake and Mount Evans. This past September, I went back and did that drive again – and stopped for this shot just before I hit Echo Lake.
This spot – Juniper Pass – is a spot as a kid that my family and I would visit for afternoon picnics. It’s about 5 minutes before you hit the road to go up Mount Evans, and the valley below is Bear Creek, which runs down into the south Denver metro area.
It’s not always easy to get good, mid-afternoon shots, as light can get a bit flat – but in this case, the colors came out better than I expected.
