Just got back from a ski trip / photo session in Telluride, Colorado. If you’ve haven’t been to Telluride, it’s an incredible place to ski! And, it’s a most beautiful town as well. Whether you go down into old town Telluride, or enjoy the much newer (and modern) Mountain Village, there’s plenty of great shopping, good beer, and incredible scenery.
One of the wonderful amenities of Telluride, is the Gondola. Although it is used by the ski community, the gondola is free for visitor to use (unlike the chair lifts, which require a paid lift ticket for skiing). The gondola travels between the older town of Telluride and the Mountain Village, which is up higher on the mountain.
The chair lifts open around 9:00am, depending on the lift, and close by around 4:00p. But, the gondola opens around 6:30am, and closes around 11:00pm. This allows for some incredible views of the surrounding area from the gondola for sunrise and sunset, and also allows you to avoid the crowds of skiers that use the gondola during lift hours.
