Flagstaff Snow Day – new image available for purchase!
With El Nino weather hitting the West this winter, it’s made for some incredible conditions in the mountains of Arizona – like this Flagstaff Snow Day. What’s amazing about this state is the wide variety of climate conditons. Besides the desert that the state is known for, as well as the Grand Canyon, we also have country’s largest Ponderosa pine forest. And, we have mountains. Around Flagstaff, we have the San Francisco Peaks, including Mt. Humphreys – with an elevation of 12,635 ft. And, we get snow up here.
After 5 days of snow, the area around Flagstaff this January got over 3 feet of snow in a week. Late on a Friday evening, I was doing some shooting as the third storm wave was passing through around sunset. This is the view, just outside Arizona Snowbowl west of Flagstaff, of the storm clouds as the sun went down, with a field of snow below the encrusted pines.
